Corporate Tax is a tax on the money businesses make. The UAE wants to make its tax system fair and modern. This helps make the UAE a great place for businesses from all over the world. It also shows that the UAE plays by the same rules as other countries when it comes to taxes. The new tax rules started on June 1, 2023. This means if your business year began on or after that date, you need to follow the new rules.
Who Should Register for UAE Corporate Tax?
If you have a business in the UAE, you probably need to sign up for corporate tax. This includes regular businesses and those in Free Zones. Anyone with a business license in the UAE should be registered. When you do, you will get a tax registration number from the government office Federal Tax Authority (FTA). This number is important for your business taxes. The FTA is in charge of all business taxes in the UAE. So, if you are doing any kind of business in the UAE, even in a Free Zone, you need to register for this tax.
Timeline for UAE Corporate Tax RegistrationÂ
Companies must sign up for corporate tax by dates set by the tax office (FTA). This comes from their Decision No. 3 of 2024.
Corporate Tax Registration Timeline: Key Points
- These rules start on March 1, 2024.
- Your corporate tax deadline depends on when your business license was first issued. Look at the month on your original license.
- If your license was issued in January or February, you must register by May 31, 2024. This is the earliest deadline for any company.
- Missing the Corporate Tax Registration Deadline may result in a 10,000 AED fine. This fine is for not applying, not for not having a tax number yet.
- The FTA announced these rules on February 28, 2024.
It is crucial to register on time to avoid penalties. The tax office is strict about these deadlines. Make sure you know your specific deadline based on your license issue date. If you are unsure, it is best to check with a tax expert or the FTA directly.
